8:00 – 8:30 registration 8:30 – 8:35 Welcome – Dr. Cheryl Dye, CU Gerontology Research Collaborative 8:35 – 9:15 Aging Issues in South Carolina – Ms. Cornelia Gibbons, Director, SC Office on Aging 9:15 – 9:30 Break 9:30 – 10:15 Dr. Laura Gitlin – Professor, Thomas Jefferson University, Recipient of National Institute on Aging Geriatric Academic Career Leadership award for her research program to promote optimal aging in place, and Director of Center for Applied Research on Aging and Health. The Center’s focus is on research in community and home-based health and human services for elderly and their caregivers to enable successful aging in place among diverse populations 10:15 – 10:30 Questions 10:30-11:00 Dr. Harvey Sterns – Professor, The University of Akron, Director and Senior Fellow of the Institute for Life-Span Development and Gerontology. His current research includes training of adult and older adult workers, personality factors, and retirement adjustment and satisfaction, as well as personality factors in housing choices in retirement. 11:00 – 10:15 Questions 1:30 – 2:15 Developing
